Virtual Fly Brain Behaviour Workshop, Oxford, Sept 2009
From ESIWiki
Virtual Fly Brain - behaviour workshop
September 21-23, 2009 at Magdalen College, Oxford.
Overview and objectives
To build a biologically plausible virtual model of the fly brain requires data gathered from real animals to provide a framework. In previous activities we explored what technologies already exist and what are still required to build a neuroanatomical framework. A previous theme workshop proposed a second workshop focussing on the acquisition and integration of behaviour data. Hence this workshop will look at current methods in Drosophila behaviour analysis with an emphasis on how the field is moving towards automation and standardisation. Exemplars from other organisms will also be presented. The aim of the workshop is to examine the challenge and discuss the benefits (and limitations) of moving to more standardised behaviour analysis methods.
