Globally Unique Identifiers (GUIDs) are seen as being important in the taxonomic community to enable unambiguous identification of objects and concepts within the community and will aid reuse and sharing of data. This makes GUIDs a fundamental approach to exploiting and sharing scientific data. This is being hosted by the eSI as a Workshops related to exploiting diverse sources of scientific data theme in collaboration with the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) and the Taxonomic Databases Working Group (TDWG).
